Biography

Early in my journey, prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I had a passion and drive for law enforcement.  Realizing the need for mental health services in the criminal justice field, I decided to pursue a career as a Licensed Professional Counselor at Monmouth University.  After obtaining my master’s degree, I practiced in a variety of clinical settings including community mental health centers, residential placements, and family homes.   Once obtaining my Licensed Professional Counselor license I began working with schools and mental health settings to bridge the gap between the educational system and mental health system.

One of my core principles in mental health stems from my personal love and passion for Yoga.  I obtained my yoga teacher training 200-hour certification to further integrate movement into sessions to help children and adolescents work through strong emotions that they feel in their body. I also hold my Approved Clinical Supervisor Certification.

My areas of experience include treating depression, anxiety and trauma, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, attachment issues, and social skills difficulties.  I use an integrative approach to treatment, tailoring therapeutic services to specific developmental and interpersonal needs.  Specialized treatment techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Focused CBT.  I am also an advanced trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach as well as Question, Persuade, Refer Suicide Prevention.

When I am not guiding clients toward wellness, I disconnect and recharge by traveling with my family. My passion is visiting water parks, and touring MLB stadiums, and watching NHL games, if I can’t attend them.   Quality time with my family and on my yoga mat is where I find solace and rejuvenation.
